Update: Since their thunder has been stolen, Ubisoft has gone ahead and made official the announce of the Watch Dogs launch date and gone live with the trailer.

Contrary to my earlier speculation, Watch Dogs will see a world-wide launch 27 May 2014.

Ubisoft said that players who purchase Watch Dogs on either PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 will have exclusive access to 60 minutes of additional gameplay via the PlayStation Network.

Original article:

Ubisoft is gearing up to officially announce (again) the launch date of Watch Dogs – but thanks to some cyber-sleuthing, the announce trailer has been scraped from Xbox.com <- click here to view it.

According to the trailer, Watch Dogs will be launching on 27 May 2014, and if the standard game launch patterns hold true, presumably this means it will launch on 30 May in our region.

Watch Dogs is heading to PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PC. The Nintendo Wii U version will be getting a later release.

Watch Dogs is poised to be Ubisoft’s next ground-breaking IP, featuring all manner of open-world hacking exploits in a lovingly crafted futuristic Chicago.

A lot is riding on the success of the open-world hacktion-adventure game, which was delayed from its previous November 2013 launch, harming Ubisoft’s financial results and worrying investors at the time. Ubisoft said that the game needed more polish.
