Posting on Twitter, Watch Dogs creative director Jonathan Morin has revealed the game’s minimum PC requirements.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of Twitter, Morin presumably couldn’t cram in minimum supported GPU models. We expect a more formal announcement soon.

  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66Ghz or AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0Ghz
  • RAM: 6GB
  • GPU: 1024MB VRA, DirectX 11 Shader 5.0
  • Sound processor: DirectX 9 compatible
  • Disk space: 25 GB

Those are some pretty scary minimum requirements. The recommended specs have yet to be officially revealed, but Morin said the game will look stunning on “Ultra” settings and be able to handle loads on-screen stuff, such as pedestrians and vehicles going about their virtual lives.

According to Gamespot, rumour has it that the recommended settings are as follows (although not confirmed):

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K or AMD FX-9370
  • RAM: 8GB+
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 670 or Radeon HD 7970
  • OS: 64-bit Windows

Watch Dogs will see a world-wide launch on 27 May 2014 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PC. The Nintendo Wii U version will be getting a later release.

Ubisoft said that players who purchase Watch Dogs on either PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 will have exclusive access to 60 minutes of additional gameplay via the PlayStation Network.

Watch Dogs is poised to be Ubisoft’s next ground-breaking IP, featuring all manner of open-world hacking exploits in a lovingly crafted futuristic Chicago.

A lot is riding on the success of the open-world hacktion-adventure game, which was delayed from its previous November 2013 launch, harming Ubisoft’s financial results and worrying investors at the time. Ubisoft said that the game needed more polish.

Min specs seem pretty normal if you ask me. If you aren’t running at least a dual core by this point and a 1gig card….that’s a pretty ancient pc.
