Consumer market research firm NPD has released its February 2014 sales stats for the US gaming market, showing 42% year-on-year hardware sales growth for the month.
This, according to NPD, was fueled by the recent launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
“Within console hardware, we continue to see strong year-over-year increases due to the success of the Xbox One and PS4. PS4 led hardware sales in February 2014, but by a narrow margin with Xbox One selling over 90 percent of what the PS4 sold in terms of unit sales,” said NPD’s Liam Callahan.
There was also good news for Nintendo’s Wii U, which saw software sales rise on the back of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, while console sales grew 25% for February.
Below are the top selling games for the month, across all platforms.
