Star Citizen fans have contributed $42 million (around R442,142,400) into Roberts Space Industries’ purses, ensuring the project will not only be completed, but that new content is also in production for the space sim.
In Chris Robert’s latest Letter from The Chairman, he said the new funds have guaranteed the following additions:
- Updated Observist Guide – Additional funding from the $42 million level will go to expanding the website area of the Galactapedia: expect to see holographic ships, items, and navigation interface in 3D.
- Explorer-class mobiGlas Rig – Every player who backed before we hit $42 million will start the game with their own, visually distinctive mobiGlas “ExoGlas” rig which can be used to access the Observist at any time.
- Gladius – The Squadron 42 team will develop an additional fighter for the game, the Aegis Dynamics Gladius-class light fighter.
Below is a video of Star Citizen’s dog-fighting module, shown off at PAX East. It is a bit “buggy” owing to the fact the game is still in its alpha version.
FYI.The 983 (as of 15-04-2014 11:53am) Slots are the last slots till full release date. I.e. that means if you do not purchase access now, then you will have to wait till the game is finished in 2015 and pay 60$.
