Take-Two yesterday presented its second quarter earnings report, and as part of the talk they discussed their plans for E3 and beyond.
Firstly, as we already knew, their subsidiary developer RockStar will not have anything to show at the event.
The reboot of cult 90’s franchise X-COM will be on hand, as will Mafia II which they are punting as their biggest game at E3.
They went on to confirm that XCOM will be released sometime in 2011 for PC and Xbox 360.
It will be interesting to see how they “reimagine” the classic turn based gameplay into a modern first person shooter, but we are holding thumbs that they don’t completely ruin Culture Brain’s legacy. Keeping with XCOM’s roots, gamers will play as an FBI agent tasked with the mission on identifying and eliminating an alien threat.
2K will also be showing off a number of other exciting titles, including Mafia II, Civilisation V and Spec Ops: The Line. No mention has been made of Max Payne 3, which is being developed by Rockstar. Take-Two did mention that Max Payne 2 has been pushed out of their current fiscal year release time frame.
