Drowning simulator lets you die, in French

24 April 2014

Falling off the side of a boat into the ocean is no laughing matter, especially if you are not wearing a life jacket.

To ensure this does not happen to you, yacht-wear manufacturer Guy Cotton has decided to create a basic interactive website, where you “play” as a man on a yacht who then falls overboard into the ocean and suffers the consequences of not wearing the flotation device.

The game, which can be played on the Sortie En Mer (Trip out to Sea) website, requires you to scroll continuously to stay afloat after you have fallen in. All the action take place from a first person perspective, and you are forced to watch as your friend sails away while you try to tread water.

To make matters worse, the water is freezing cold, and the temperature causes your character to fatigue quickly. Give the game a go and see how long you can survive.

But be warned, without a life jacket it won’t be easy.
