Newly-released Gaming in Colour is a feature-length documentary that shines a light on the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, queer) gaming community, and how they have “come out of the closet and into the arcade”.
After being funded on Kickstarter last year, the documentary has now been released and is available at pay-what-you-want pricing through the film’s official website, with prices starting at $1 (around R10).
The film is directed by Philip Jones, and not only focuses on LGBTQ gamers, but how the industry is evolving to cater for that segment of the market.
In the trailer for the documentary, below, we hear LGBTQ gamers talk about how video games helped them through difficult times, and provided them with an outlet to be themselves in a safe environment.
