The new Call of Duty title has been revealed ahead of schedule. It’s called Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and is due to be released on 4 November 2014.
Update: Amazon.co.uk has listed Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, selling the title for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, and PC.
The game was due for its big unveiling on Sunday, 4 May 2014, with a reveal site set up by Activision containing a countdown timer to mark the occasion – but leaked screenshots and videos shown by Destructoid forced the publisher’s hand.
The game’s reveal trailer (below) shows advanced weapons, futuristic vehicles – like hoverbikes and mech-walkers – and soldiers fitted with exosuits which allow them to run faster, jump higher, and climb walls like Spider-Man.
The trailer also shows off one of the game’s protagonists, whose voice and likeness is provided by Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey.
Spacey gives a great performance in the trailer, and will no doubt pull off the power-hungry, hell-bent-on-world-domination character with ease.
Game Informer secured the first full screenshot of the new game, before Activision decided to spill the beans.
A post on Call of Duty’s Instagram account teased Spacey’s inclusion in the game before the trailer was released.
Vice and Call of Duty also looked at the plausibility of a private army becoming a superpower, even speaking to soldiers who fought for their country and high-paying corporations.
To end off: below is the first stolen shot from the game, which was teased at the Game Developers conference in March.
