To move your downloaded content (if any) and saves to what Engadget is calling the “Stealthbox,” you’ll have to do a transfer since you won’t be able to use an old hard drive in the new Xbox 360.
Both the current and new Slim versions of the console have USB ports and with Microsoft’s latest update an earth-shattering 16GB of your data can be moved at a time.
If you’d like to move more than 16GB at a time (or don’t have a decently sized USB storage handy) then you’ll need to get your hands on an Xbox 360 transfer cable. According to Kotaku the existing cable that connects an Xbox 360‘s hard drive to a destination console’s USB port will work and costs around $19.
Kotaku hasn’t tested whether these data transfer solutions work yet, but promised an update once they’ve given it a go.
Microsoft SA is still waiting on confirmation of the local street date and price for the “Stealthbox.” It’s already available in the US and will be reaching Europe by next month. Since its recommended pricing in the US is set to the old price of the Xbox 360 Elite ($299), it’s not too far a stretch to think that the new console will retail for what we’re currently paying for an Elite locally.
