Best-selling PlayStation games in SA

Market research company Gfk has finalised its sales stats for March 2014, which means we can find out which games have been topping the charts at South African retail for the first quarter of 2014.

This article looks at PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 titles, and for each month includes both pre-orders and post-launch sales.

Having launched in South Africa on 13 December 2013, the first three months of the year were all about building game libraries for new PS4 owners.

It’s unsurprising to see the ever-popular FIFA franchise topping the charts, while rounding out purchases each month were plenty of new releases, including PlayStation exclusives and multi-platform titles.

Over on PS3 it was a much more tempered affair, with stalwart titles holding strong in the opening months of the year. FIFA 2014, GTA 5, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, and The Last of Us all made recurring entries into the chart.

The table below summaries the top 5 games by sales at SA retail for Q1 2014.
