Nintendo still working on the Wii Vitality Sensor (LOL)

22 June 2010

Oh, yeah. The Nintendo Vitality Sensor. That… thing that… um, measures your pulse. I’m still kinda convinced that, not to be outdone by Microsoft’s big wow Project Natal reveal at E3 last year, Nintendo’s attending marketing guys quickly nicked a pulse oximeter from some nearby medi clinic and told everybody it was something special.

But it was somewhat conspicuously absent from this year’s expo. A cynical person might think it’s because it’s the most stupid, pointless gaming peripheral in the history of the universe, but apparently the real reason is that E3 simply isn’t the place for it.

“We decided we’d think about other venues that would be more appropriate,” says Nintendo’s Cammie Dunaway, disappointing everyone everywhere. “[E3] is noisy and adrenaline-filled, and loud and stressful, and it just didn’t seem like the best environment to introduce a product that’s really about relaxing.”

So, yeah. They’re still working on it. Maybe.
