Steam has released more games in the first 4 months of 2014 than it did for the entirety of 2013.
While this is great news for gamers, indie developers have expressed concern that their titles are getting lost in the ocean of titles now available.
While an indie title may have shown up on the front page of Steam for a few days in recent years, it now enjoys less time in the spotlight.
Just over 500 new games have been released on Steam in 2014 so far, with April racking up almost 200 titles.
Contributing to the increase in the volume of games released this year are the hundreds of titles that have have been accepted via the Steam Greenlight process.
The number of titles released each month in 2014 has also increased, a trend that is set to continue for the rest of the year.
Valve has said in the past that it may get rid of the Greenlight process completely, allowing anyone to publish on the site and making players the curators, but this is yet to happen.
