Dota 2 The International’s prize pool broke records earlier in the week when it reached $2.9 million, but that has not stopped fans of the game from continuing to hand over money to Valve.
At the time of publication, the prize pool for the 2014 edition of The International had reached $5.18 million (R53,500,590). The prize pool has been primarily funded through the sale of the Compendium, which lets fans of the MOBA keep up to date with the latest happenings from the tournament, and collect various rewards and player cards.
Dota 2 The International takes place at the Key Arena in Seattle, USA, from 18 – 21 July 2014. The tickets for the event were sold out in an under an hour at the beginning of last month.
For those of you who want to spice things up, you can now place real-money bets on The International.
