The Evil Within gets new release date

Bethesda has announced that The Evil Within will now be launched in Europe – the region South Africa normally falls in line with – on 24 October 2014.

Orginally, the game was scheduled to be released for the PS3, PS4, PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on 29 August, but the developers have asked for additional time to refine the game, and the scares, to “deliver the polished, terrifying pure survival-horror experience they set out to create”.

To help ease the pain, the pre-order incentive The Fighting Chance Pack was announced along with the delay. The pack provides players with additional items that will help them “stave off death”.

The items include:

  • Medical Kit
  • Green Upgrade Gel
  • Double Barrel Shotgun and Three Shells
  • An Incendiary Agony Bolt
  • A Poison Agony Bolt

The Evil Within sees detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter the scene of a gruesome mass murder, after which Castellanos is ambushed and knocked unconscious. From there, it’s all about surviving the twisted world the game throws at you.

To see just how scary the game will be, Bethesda has put together a video showing gamers’ reactions to playing an early version of the The Evil Within.
