Watch Dogs PS4, Xbox One versions have problems

Watch Dogs has had a torrid 24 hours since its launch, with PC gamers up in arms over multiple bugs and issues which prevented them from even getting the game up and running.

Although hardly a consolation, they will be pleased to know they aren’t alone. PlayStation and Xbox owners who bought the game have taken to the Ubisoft forums to vent their frustration over problems they have experienced with the game.

At the time of publication, here were the main complaints:

PS4 and Xbox One game won’t load

Multiple PS4 and Xbox One owners said that when they launched the game, or tried to load a saved game, the loading bar reached 90%, but failed to progress from there.

“When I tried to load my game, it keeps stopping at like 90%. Waited several minutes on the loading screen.”

“It’s becoming a joke now. For the past hour I’ve been trying to get into story mode, and it keeps getting to 90%. I’m getting pissed off… would not think this game [would] have problems during release.”

Several gamers also complained that their disc-based version of the game would not load at all.

Digital copies unavailable

Several PlayStation owners who ordered Watch Dogs from the PSN store were even worse off than those who could not access their purchase, as their copies of the Ubisoft game were not available post launch.

“What’s more frustrating [is that] I could have just bought it tomorrow on my way home back from work and been £15 (±R264) better off and played it at exactly the same time. Disappointing Ubisoft, this is not how you launch a new IP – Fail.”

Other complaints

Besides the inability of many to even get into the game, those who could play Watch Dogs took to the forums to give their view.

“I’m playing on the PS3 and the driving mechanics are terrible and the shooting [mechanic] is bad. I am not enjoying this game,” said one user.

“The guns do not have the bolt action move when shooting (mostly pistols), and do not stop open when out of ammo. I remember seeing this in the trailers of the game and thought it was a mistake – it is an important detail in a game if you appreciate realism.”
