Wolfenstein: The New Order – 100,000 copies pirated

28 May 2014

Wolfenstein: The New Order has been illegally downloaded over 100,000 times, according to TorrentFreak.

Despite its rather large size – 43.65 GB to be exact – the game is near the top of most torrent sites.

Wolfenstein the New Order received strong reviews from international critics, and has done well on the international sales charts.

Ubisoft – the team behind the not-so-smooth launch of Watch Dogs – has previously stated that their titles face a 90% piracy rate, while Valve say that piracy is based on service issues.

While we won’t assert that this is 100,000 sales lost for developer MachineGames and Bethesda, it must still be seen as a blow to the teams who put a lot of effort into creating a decent game.

Is game piracy just something that developers and publishers will have to take on the chin or is there a solution that keeps everyone happy? Let us know your thoughts.
