Local Dota 2 gamers can sign up for a chance to play in the MSI Beat IT 2014 tournament in Taipei, Taiwan.
Registrations are now open for the sub-Saharan qualifiers, hosted by MWEB GameZone. Those interested can register via the relevant MWEB page.
The Beat IT 2014 competition will be preceded by qualifiers in North America, Europe, the Asia-Pacific, South East Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and Africa.
There are two legs to the Africa qualifiers – North Africa (Egypt) and Sub-Saharan Africa (SA), and MWEB will be running the sub-Saharan Qualifiers and the Africa finals.
MWEB said they have invited eight of the top Dota 2 teams in South Africa and Namibia – both countries have formalised Dota 2 leagues – but there is space for a 32-team group stage.
The top 8 teams from the group stage will go then up against the eight invited teams.
From there, the top four teams will take part in the Africa final.
MSI, one of the sponsors, will provide the winning African team with accommodation for the final in Taiwan, $5000 (±R53,000) towards travel expenses, and five MSI gaming laptops.
