Silent Hill is back

Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid fame and horror movie director Guillermo del Toro are teaming up to take us back to Silent Hill.

Re-read that sentence, and if you’re still not excited, click that little ‘x’ in the top right corner of this page.

The secret project basically caught everyone off guard, and revealed itself as an interactive teaser on the PlayStation Store under the name of “P.T.”, which was released during Sony’s conference.

Apart from heavyweights Kojima and Del Toro, the game will star another familiar name – The Walking Dead’s Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus).

Well, that’s the assumption anyway – info is scarce at this stage, and the teaser says that it’s just that – a teaser – and has no direct relation to the main title.

Check it out, below.

Silent Hill has been rather…silent…over the past few years, with our last trip into the town being rather underwhelming.

Silent Hill Shattered Memories on the Wii was a decent enough re-imagining of the original game, but Silent Hill Downpour – which promised to follow in the foggy footsteps of the masterful Silent Hill 2 – failed to deliver.

The HD remakes of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 also missed the mark, somewhat – but the idea of a new Silent Hill, with a fresh set of hands on the wheel (on the new gen consoles!) really gets me hot under the collar.

Are you excited for a new Silent Hill with such big names behind it? I know I am! Let us know in the comments or on the forum.
