World of Warcraft subscriptions to increase

24 August 2014

The price of a World of Warcraft subscription in Europe is going to increase once the Warlords of Draenor expansion is released on 13 November 2014.

Following the expansion’s release, the new pricing will be as follows:

  • 30 Days – £9.99 (was £8.99)
  • 90 Days – £28.17 (was £25.17)
  • 180 Days – £52.14 (was £46.14)

Blizzard did not comment on whether this subscription increase would be implemented in other countries, but the possibility of the hike filtering down to South Africa cannot be written off.

“We regularly look at our pricing around the world and from time to time we make changes in light of local and regional market conditions. As such, we want to give everyone a heads-up that we will shortly be adjusting the pound sterling subscription price of World of Warcraft,” said Blizzard in a post.

Current subscribers who are on recurring subscription plans at the time of the change will continue to receive their current rate for two years after the price increase (talk about an incentive), as long as they remain on that plan.

For the forgetful gamers out there, Blizzard will send a reminder out two months before the November price increase.
