Visceral, the team behind the latest iteration in the Battlefield franchise, has promised that Hardline will stand out as a game and hold its own when compared to its predecessor, Battlefield 4.
Battlefield Hardline is due to be released for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4 in February 2015, after its creators recently announced the game would be delayed.
In a YouTube interview – which is posted below – Visceral Games creative director Steve Papoutsis said Hardline is a very different game to BF4, thanks to its five new game modes.
“These are very unique and never been seen in Battlefield before,” he said. One of the new modes is Hotwire, where gamers are involved in a high-speed car chases in an attempt to repossess certain vehicles.
Other modes include:
- Rescue: Save the hostages and kill the bad guys
- Blood Money: Get the huge pile of money back to your vault
- Heist: Pull of the perfect crime and break into a guarded vault
- Downtown Destruction: Blow up whatever you need to, to get away from the cops
Visceral has also promised a rich single-player story, where you take on the role of a cop who is tasked with kicking bad-guy ass.
The campaign will be “very different than anything you’ve seen in Battlefield before”, with the story set to unfold like a “TV show”.
“Overall, I feel like what we’re creating is a significant entry for the franchise, and we hope people see it that way,” he said.
