Ubisoft took a lot of criticism for the state of Watch Dogs when it was launched, with James sharing his experience (and the experience of many other gamers) after the title failed to work properly.
Surely the gaming giant would do everything in its power to avoid another launch “travesty”?
Well, if news reports – and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed website – are anything to go by, then Unity may be on a similarly rocky road.
According to the Assassin’s Creed site, the men and women behind the game are working hard on an update to fix the following issues:
- Arno falling through the ground;
- Game crashing when joining a co-op session;
- Arno getting caught inside of hay carts;
- Delay in reaching the main menu screen at game start.
I’m no expert, but I am quite sure that the game’s main character falling through the floor is something that should be ironed out before the game is released.
Other issues will also be addressed in the coming update:
- Frame rate issues;
- Graphical and collision issues;
- Matchmaking co-op issues;
- Helix Credits issues.
Bear in mind that Ubisoft has already released a 900MB Day 1 patch (the game only launched this week, 10-14 November 2014) which sought to address various animation, camera, and HUD issues; and provide fixes for single-player and co-op mode.
Problems with AI detection and reaction were also reportedly addressed in the initial patch.
Numerous gaming publications reported that gamers were experiencing “crazy low frame rates, along with problems like bugs and texture pop-in”.
Comments on the Assassin’s Creed website revealed others were experiencing more serious problems, though, like the inability to even play the game.
“I can’t even get past the first loading screen before it crashes. This is really irritating,” said combat master, masteratcombat.
Some problems were more comical.
Throat jabbing user, THROATJAB35 said: “How about chasing a guy for 15 minutes that you are SUPPOSED to tackle in the story and can’t. It was like something out of a comedy us bumping into each other and me button mashing like I was playing Mortal Kombat!”
