The world’s biggest games tradeshow, Gamescom is taking place this week. Over 480 exhibitors and 33 countries will be represented at the event, which like every year, is taking place in Cologne, Germany.
Gamescom actually only officially kicks off today, but tons of pre-exhibition stuff went down yesterday, and here are some of the highlights.
Mass Effect 2 coming to PS3
We didn’t actually think this was going to happen, but EA has confirmed that Mass Effect 2 will be released on PS3 early next year.
Gran Turismo gets Europe (and therefore SA) release date
Sony announced during its Gamescom conference that its highly anticipated racing simulator, Gran Turismo 5 will be released in Europe on November 3, 2010. We can expect our local release date to be very close to this.
Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One announced
Sony also announced a brand new addition to the Ratchet & Clank series; a four player co-op platformer that will allow players to play as Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark and Dr. Nefarious.
Resistance 3 officially announced
Sony also announced Resistance 3 vie a live-action teaser trailer. Insomniac later confirmed via its twitter feed that the game will be released for PS3 in 2011.
Dragon Age 2 gets release date
EA announced at its Gamescom conference that Dragon Age 2 will be released on March 11, 2011.
Age of Empires Online announced
Microsoft announced Age of Empires: Online.
PS3 getting 160GB and 320GB models
Sony announced that the standard 120GB PS3 will be replaced by 160GB console, and the 250GB bundle will be replaced by a 320GB bundle.
Dawn of War II gets its second expansion pack
Dawn of War II: Retribution will introduce the Ork campaign, and a still to be announced new playable race.
