Minecraft creator Markus “notch” Persson is a billionaire – and he’s certainly living like one.
Minecraft is by all definitions a massive hit, having sold over 18 million copies on the PC, 30 million copies on mobile devices, and pretty much dominating the sales charts across all platforms it’s sold on.
It’s such a hit that Microsoft bought the game’s developer, Mojang, in September 2014 for $2.5 billion.
After the deal went through, Notch walked away from the company with about $1.5 billion in pocket, on to bigger a better things.
And by bigger and better we mean a 23,000 square foot, $70 million house in Beverly Hills that Beyoncé and Jay-Z were apparently eyeing out.
The house features an 18-seat “screening room”, bars, a gym, 8 bedrooms, and 15 bathrooms. Oh, and each bathroom has a $5,600 toilet in it.
Every king needs his throne, I guess.
But it’s not enough to simply have a house worth tens of millions: no, you also have to fill it with some awesome things.
Earlier in January, the Minecraft master had a teeny little soireé. Just a little housewarming, you know.
Thanks to some snaps from Rukes.com, you can catch a glimpse into how the new dollar billionaire is living it up.

There’s even a gym (presumably for after indulging in the candy wall) – but the focus here is Notch’s gun fixation.
There are a load of pictures from the night, including pictures of the wine cellar, garage, and attendees – be sure to check them out at Rukes.com.
Notch was interviewed by Rolling Stone, and admitted his recent purchases were over-the-top.
“It’s a very stupid way to spend money,” he told the magazine. “But why not? People say, ‘You should invest it.’ So I can get more money to put in a pile? At least if you spend it, it goes back and does something, maybe.”
Notch hasn’t only spent money on himself, though. He’s also given money to charity, backed the Electronic Frontier Foundation with a $250,000 donation, and given $3 million in dividends back to the Mojang team.
Go on, notch – you gave the world Minecraft, so you deserve every cent.
What would you buy if you became an over-night billionaire? Let us know in the comments below. Candy wall is my number one!
