Xbox 360 owners will soon be able to dive into the exclusive Dead Rising 2 prequel/demo, Case Zero. US Xbox 360 owners will have access on 31 August 2010, and EU owners on 3 September 2010.
Case Zero is set three years prior to the events of Dead Rising 2 and it promises to develop the story that occurs between Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2. Case Zero will introduce and develop two of the main Dead Rising 2 characters – protagonist Chuck Greene, and his daughter Katey.
Gamers can reach up to level five during Case Zero, experience which can be carried over into Dead Rising 2 along with cash earned.
A ten minute video showing off some Case Zero gameplay has been ‘leaked’ to the internet. It begins with an animation that looks like an advertisement for a site which cannot be discovered by a cursory Google search. That only lasts a few seconds however, and some totally awesome zombie smashing action follows.
The video shows Chuck engaging in a bit of run n’ gun shooting action, ploughing through zombies with a garbage dumpster, but mostly shows Chuck smooshing zombie skull with the aid of a sledgehammer. He also interacts with Katey, whom is hiding out in a safe room.
Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will be available exclusively to US Xbox 360 owners on 31 August 2010, and EU owners on 3 September 2010, for 400 Microsoft Points.
The full Dead Rising 2 game will be released around the world for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC at the end of September 2010.
