A lot more of The Witcher 3 than you bargained for

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

“This world doesn’t need a hero; it needs a professional.” That is not only one of the cooler opening lines we’ve heard of late, but it perfectly describes Geralt, as well as the witcher creed in general. Witchers slay monsters best because it’s their profession.

TV spots are supposed to be succinct and to the point, and that’s exactly what this The Witcher 3 TV trailer does. Suffice to say, Geralt is going to save the world, he takes his job very seriously, but he’s going to send you the invoice afterwards.

Speaking of the world of The Witcher 3

We knew that The Witcher 3’s world was massive, we’ve known it for a while now, and it had better be at around 35GB – but just how big is it? A rather ingenious individual has used a gameplay demonstration and aligned the terrain with a recently provided map of the world. Throw in a location on the map as Geralt crosses the terrain and we have a pretty accurate depiction of its size.

Like we’ve said before, and as CD Projekt RED has reiterated over and over again, its world is large. CD Projekt RED is even advertising a compendium for the series to prove it. It’s as proud of its work as it is of its tech, namely the REDengine 3 (how’s this for a segue?).

Aimed primarily at Nvidia fans and anyone with a capable enough Geforce graphics card, this latest dev diary for the game divulges a lot of the technology behind what makes it all look so darn pretty, and why a Geforce card will make it look even prettier. It’s all very impressive – you don’t even need to be a PC gamer to watch this.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases for the Xbox One, PC and PS4 on May 19th.
