These newly announced PlayStation Watches are not wearables

Just when you thought Sony and the PlayStation brand couldn’t possibly tap into any other market, PlayStation Watches jump out from behind the curtain, yelling, “Surprise!”

Calm down. Take a deep breath. These are not wearables. These watches just tell the time, but they do sport the PlayStation brand, for whatever that’s worth.

The PlayStation watches are up for pre-purchase at the moment and go for $45.00 (R534.00 at the time of writing). They are water resistant, are made from stainless steel and have a UV-coated silicone strap. By the looks of things, there are only two versions available right now, both of which you can see in the image above.

These are not from Rolex, so don’t expect the best build quality. That said, they do intrigue us somewhat, if only to open our minds to the potential of actual PlayStation wearables, not that you’ll find those on the PlayStation Gear Store anytime soon.

There is no word on whether the PlayStation watches will be released in SA or not, as the PlayStation Gear store is an American store.
