Mortal Kombat X is brutal, bloody and gratuitously gory, so it’s kind of amazing and we love it dearly. Annoyingly, the PC release sucks the big one. The reported issues for the PC port of the game don’t seem to be affecting everyone, but they’re widespread enough for NetherRealm Studios to take notice.
45 minutes into a Mortal Kombat X Twitch stream, NetherRealm Studios head, Ed Boon, remarks that they intend to address the issues plaguing the PC port of the game:
Tomorrow there will be a patch for the PC version. It literally brings the PC version to parity with the console versions and there’s huge improvements coming to that version. That’s a lot of the feedback we have been getting back; people with PC issues, so we’re really excited to get them the version they deserve.”
It’s about time; it only released last month.
The most pronounced example of the issues the PC port is having can be found via the numerous negative user reviews on Steam.
Here are a few examples:
…. however, the crippling memory leak and seemingly unoptimized state of the game and its netcode makes it un-recommendable”
“This port is terrible; Frame drops everywhere, netcode is awful and the list goes on”
“The most messed up piece of software I’ve ever seen in my long years of using computers. Terrible optimization, freezing, crashing, the worst netcode of any fighting game released in the past decade.”
“Game crashes a lot, fps keeps falling and the online mode doesn’t really works until now.”
“BOON TRICKED US AGAIN DON’T GET THIS ON THE PC
“The absolute worst port in human history. Honestly, just torrent it for the singleplayer stuff which is pretty good. But even then you will get ♥♥♥♥ed by the poor optimization and you’ll have to reset every hour or so to clear RAM & VRAM. Multiplayer is a joke, you either crash or get matched with people who run at 10 FPS, 500 ping or both.”
And there’s a heck of a lot more where those came from. Like. A lot.
