No seriously, is that a saber-toothed tiger in that artwork?! It is!
If there’s one thing that’s severely lacking in games these days, it’s dinosaurs.
Thankfully, independent developer Studio Wildcard has announced an ambitious project called ARK: Survival Evolved, which is a large open-world Jurassic survival FPS.
Powered by Unreal Engine 4, ARK: Survival Evolved takes on the survival genre with a unique blend of emergent multiplayer cooperation and competition. Players awake naked and starving on the beach of a mysterious island among a herd of other confused humans. On ARK, they must then hunt, harvest, craft, research technology, and build shelters to protect against scorching days, freezing nights, volatile weather systems, dangerous wildlife, and potential enemies.”
In the announcement trailer, players are able to tame dinosaurs and ride them into battle against others dinosaurs or rivaling tribes on the island.
We’re also expecting a freaking sabe-toothed tiger. We saw it in the artwork, so we want it!
The game is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Mac and Linux (with an early 2016 release date), and Steam users will be able to try out ARK: Survival Evolved on Early Access starting June 2nd, 2015.
Does this remind anyone of The Stomping Land, only much better? We thought so.
Looking good – they should follow the FC3/FC4 format, only with an expanded tree for crafting.
