Ratchet & Clank

Set to tie into the forthcoming movie’s narrative as well as Ratchet and Clank’s origin story, Ratchet & Clank’s reboot for PS4 is something we’ve long been looking forward to – we’d also love a new Jak and Daxter while Sony is at it.

Unfortunately, the game has been delayed into 2016 for the sake of additional work and polish. Not that, that’s a bad thing.

We also suspect that the delay has something to do with the release of the film.

Ratchet & Clank Movie premieres April 29, 2016 in the US

In spite of what some would have you believe, animated films are as good as they have always been, you need look no further than the likes of Toy Story 3, Wreck-it Ralph, Big Hero 6 or The LEGO Movie as proof of that.

Given the talent currently contracted to the Ratchet & Clank film, we’re expecting something spectacular. The current list of those contracted is as follows:

  • Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Paul Giamatti as Chairman Drek
  • Golden Globe winner John Goodman as Ratchet’s mechanic mentor Grimroth
  • Young Artist Award winner Bella Thorne as Galactic Ranger Cora
  • Rosario Dawson as Galactic Ranger support team member Elaris
  • Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone as Victor Von Ion, Chairman Drek’s villainous lieutenant

It’s also been confirmed that “Ratchet, Clank, Nefarious and Captain Qwark will also be back, voiced by the same actors as in the games”.

Best of all, a good portion of the team responsible for the original games will play some part in the production of the film. We can’t wait.
