Doom has been notably absent from the gaming scene for quite some time, but veteran FPS fans know that id Software is cooking up something behind closed doors, and the anticipation is killing us.
While we sort of knew that it was already going to happen, it’s been officially confirmed that the long-awaited Doom reboot will be revealed at E3 this year – and already gamers are frothing at the mouth.
We even have a first, albeit brief, glimpse of the game thanks to a newly released teaser:
If that wasn’t enough to get you chatting, some new screenshots as well as a video of the cancelled version of what was previously called Doom 4 have also hit the interwebs.
From looking at the screenshots, you won’t be mistaken for thinking its some weird mash-up hybrid baby created by a boozy night between Call of Duty, Rage and Killzone.
It does look interesting, but there seems to be a focus on a resistance faction rather than demons and ending said demons – i.e. what we really want.
That said, it’s a refreshing idea to have a little narrative context, other characters with which to truly converse and a deeper experience alongside Doom.
