An unattended Wii?! Is that gamer mad?! Apparently so.
According to news site KKTV, Trevor Pellegrin’s RV, as well as most of the belongings contained within, were consumed by a fire that was started by his Wii console, and Pellegrin is adamant it wasn’t a wiring fault.
“This had nothing to do with the wires,” said Pellegrin. “It started in the actual console of the Wii.”
All Pellegrin had done prior to the fire was watch some Netflix on his console, not a particularly combustible activity, before leaving the console unattended and still plugged into the wall.
“There’s no warning label on that Wii saying unplug after use that it may cause a fire, there’s no warning label so I didn’t know to do that, to unplug it.”
Silly as it may sound, Pellegrin’s statement is spot on.
For those of you doubting that Nintendo’s former flagship console is responsible, investigators are “99% sure” that the console is responsible for the fire. And that “all other possible sources of ignition have been ruled out.”
Just to make absolutely sure, Pellegrin has asked his insurance company to conduct a more thorough investigation.
“This is where I live, these are my possessions. It might not be much, but it’s all I had. And then I lost it all, over a game console,” said Pellegrin.
We predict a lawsuit.
