Fans reveal Fallout 4 map and locations

Fallout 4

The beautiful thing about the internet is that fans, especially Fallout fans, can come together for a project which is just plain cool.

With the reveal of Fallout 4, Fallout fans began cross referencing the trailer with real life maps and references to Boston.

Essentially what happened was that fans used landmarks from the trailer and figured out the game’s map layout.

They took in-game locations such as a tower and used it as a central feature, as it is displayed throughout the gameplay footage.

Combining this with real locations featured in the trailer, they could estimate scale and the positioning of other locations as featured throughout the trailer.

Fans have located where the player will start, what the general size of the map will be and other details, all of which are catalogued in the video above and in this gallery.

They predict Fallout 4‘s map size will be around 30 square miles (77.7km²), which is double that of Skyrim’s 14.6 square miles (37.8km²). With a new engine in place for Fallout 4, a huge open world like this could be very possible.

If this all proves to be true, we will be immensely impressed. Think about a nuclear wasteland that size to explore, we would never leave our rooms.

Exploring is one of my favorite things to do in The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. I like just picking a random direction and marching off.
