Hollywood industry rag Variety is reporting that Christopher Nolan, director of the blockbuster sci-fi-heist-thriller Inception, is considering a video game spin-off from the movie.
“We are looking at developing a videogame based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can’t fit into a feature film,” Nolan said at a packed Rome press conference. “That’s something we’ve been talking about and are looking at doing long term, in a couple of years,” Nolan told Variety.
To date the film has raked in US$752 million from around the globe. Presumably, a significant fan base has developed – fans who may just be keen on an Inception video game.
The movie already sports a viral marketing game – Mind Crime – which has attracted plenty of Facebook fans and grown a small community of maze creators.
Video games based on movies are usually a hit-and-miss affair, with far more misses than notable hits. An Inception game may just prove successful, as the world of the film has a great scope and could provide a good environment for cerebral gameplay.
