No PC version of Super Street Fighter IV thanks to piracy

22 September 2010

Speaking in an interview with Japanese gaming website 4gamer.net, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition producer Yosihnori Ono confirmed that there are no plans to release a PC version. Consoles will be receiving the title in December.

Ono claimed that the PC version of Street Fighter IV was the most highly pirated of all the various platform releases. He did look on the bright side of things however, and said that the game was highly regarded by PC gamers. Despite this, Capcom has decided that the Street Fighter property must be protected, and cannot become regarded as ‘free’ for certain platforms.

PC gamers were thrown a bone of hope – if Capcom finds a powerful enough copy protection system, they may eventually consider a PC release. Ono also ruled out a Steam-only release, saying that this would be unfair for PC gamers who do not have access to the digital platform. All or nothing for PC gamers then.
