Final Fantasy VII remake possibly in the works

Final Fantasy VII, a JRPG classic in every sense of the word, was originally released in 1997.

Ever since the original game’s release, we’ve seen HD remasters make their way to Steam, and even the PS4 will have the a version similar to the Steam HD remaster.

But most JRPG fans remember when Square Enix taunted us with a demo of the game running on the PS3 in 2006.

Fans have always been wondering when there would finally be a proper remake, and not just remaster, of Final Fantasy VII.

Well, according to the latest rumour, identified by Siliconera, they apparently think Square Enix are actively developing a Final Fantasy VII remake for the PS4.

The rumour suggests that the remake will use a modern art style. Cloud will appear in a similar style to his Dissidia Final Fantasy or Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children counterparts.

It has been further speculated that this remake is in development to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original game.

Whether this rumour proves to be true or not. Once again Final Fantasy VII and JRPG fans will be left in the lurch trying to ascertain whether this remake is plausible.

We can only hope so at this point in time.
