“Packages” come in different sizes, in Rust

Rust

Rust is a bit a of a social experiment where people are thrown together, all as naked men, finding themselves out in the wilderness, isolated with the only aim being to survive.

That and you have a rock to help you out in the beginning.

In March, the social experiment that is Rust became a bit more nuanced with an update where players were randomly assigned unchangeable faces and skin tones.

However, this wasn’t the end, now your nether regions, in particular your package, is now also randomised.

It’s all about size in Rust, apparently. Image courtesy of PCGamer.

The original source of all this news was of course Reddit, via PCGamesN. Along with the news, there was also a video which can be found here, which shows how this all works.

Essentially, how your junk is randomised is via your Steam ID which affects the actual size of everything below.

Your tallness, face, head size, jaw definition and limb size are also randomly generated, and these features are also tied to your Steam ID and can’t be changed.

One of the noticeable elements in Rust is that everyone is male. Facepunch, the developers of Rust, revealed in their latest blog post that they have begun the process of adding a female model in response to this.

Thomas Butters, Facepunch’s artist, had this to say in regard to female characters,”We really don’t want to make the female model unrealistic in the sense of her being aesthetically idealized.

Butter further states, “In the same way that our male models aren’t perfect specimens of the male body, neither should the female be. No huge boobs nor four-inch waists here.

He added to this that in-game testing of the female model could possibly begin next week.

The game does seriously need some variation. Along with changes, such as above, and the eventual introduction of a female model, Rust could be a different beast very soon.
