MWEB 10 Mbps uncapped ADSL launched

7 October 2010

MWEB Business today unveiled their latest uncapped ADSL product aimed at the business market; an aggressively priced uncapped, unshaped 10Mbps service.

The new offering, which runs over MWEB’s next-generation network, has its own international bandwidth provisioned through Seacom, making it affordable for businesses to achieve high connectivity speeds.

In addition, the new Uncapped 10Mbps option comes with a range of value-added services and 24/7 technical support, said Bernard Kur, Head of Product Management and Development at MWEB Business.

“This is an important consideration for a business that doesn’t have its own IT department,” he added.

Kur argues that the lack of well-priced, generously-provisioned bandwidth has long been a source of frustration for local entrepreneurs, particularly those who have not been able to take full advantage of the technical and economic opportunities that affordable broadband access provides.

“Because MWEB now provides Internet access on its own network that is engineered to world-class standards, we can compete with traditional Telco’s and bring affordable, high quality, uncapped, fully supported Internet access within reach of most businesses,” he explained.

The launch of the latest 10Mbps is the fourth option for uncapped, unshaped Business ADSL offerings provided by MWEB Business. The other options are 384kbps, 512kbps, and 4Mbps services.

Should a customer require anything faster, this can be catered for using Leased Lines or Bonded ADSL products.

All the Business ADSL services from MWEB Business are also available on a Business ADSL with 3G failover offering (provided over a Billion router). This allows a business to remain connected when there is an outage on the ADSL line, by seamlessly failing over to a 3G connection and failing back to ADSL when the line is restored.

Additional value adds of the new 10Mbps uncapped ADSL offering include:

-5 Fixed IP addresses, enabling businesses to host servers and deploy a VPN connection.
-A low contention ratio (limited number of users on the line at any one time).
-Use of a configured business class Cisco router worth R3 999, for new customers signing a 12-month contract.
-Unshaped bandwidth (no prioritisation of certain types of traffic).
-Notification of downtime.
-300 free Wi-Fi minutes.
-2GB mailbox.
-MRTG Graphs.
-Fax to email account.
-SMTP relaying to enable businesses to relay their mail regardless of where their mail server is housed.
-24×7 Support for the full Business Uncapped ADSL Service including Telkom ADSL line escalations and remote/onsite engineering support.
