Gears of War: Ultimate Edition unlocks all Gears of War games for free

If you’re lining up some free time for a little curb-stomping fun when Gears of War: Ultimate Edition releases this month, then you better free up your schedule because the overhauled game comes with all past Gears of War games.

If you buy Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Xbox One, you’ll get the entire Gears collection via Xbox One Backward Compatibility – that includes Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3 and Gears of War: Judgment.

There’s a small catch though (well, not a catch, more of a requirement) – you have to play Ultimate Edition on Xbox Live at some point from August 25th to December 31st, 2015 to access the four previous games via Backward Compatibility when the feature launches in September.

This is a great opportunity for those who never played the games to backtrack through the original trilogy and spin-off (Gears of War: Judgment), but what if you already own them?

Well, you can even keep all your previously-saved Xbox 360 files, game add-ons, achievements and play with friends on Xbox Live no matter which Xbox console they’re on. Pretty neat ‘ey.
