Half-Life 2 recreated in Unreal Engine 4

Half-Life 2 recreated in Unreal Engine 4

Liam Tart has some rather impressive credentials to say the least.

Having worked on projects like Alien: Isolation, Natural Selection 2 and Black Mesa: Source, he’s a 3D environment artist to take note of, and we’re about to give you another reason why.

Tart has recreated the City 17 apartment building from Half-Life 2 in the Unreal Engine 4.

To do so, he’s used new textures and effects, but has managed to maintain the same sense of atmosphere Half-Life 2 originally captured.

The result, a fantastic looking set of images.

What we’d love to see is the very same apartment building recreated in Source Engine 2 and ultimately compared to Unreal Engine 4.

We suspect they’re going to be the most prolific engines of this generation, and it doesn’t hurt to see where we’re headed.
