Metal Gear Solid V PC retail disc contains no files

When you buy a PC retail version of a game, you honestly expect the disc to contain the content you paid for. What you don’t want happening is for there to only be a Steam installer.

PC gamers typically prefer to download games, but in South Africa where many gamers don’t have optimal internet connections having an actual retail disc with the files on the disc is always best.

Even if it only contains the most important core files, reducing the required download by a decent chunk, it makes a heck of a difference.

Konami seem to think this is an okay practice, putting nothing but the Steam installer on the PC retail disc for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain we mean.

In fact, it contains virtually no files at all. This is such an irritation, particularly when the game has been doing so well critically.

KitGuru suspected that this was put in place as a measure to make sure that the game doesn’t leak on to the internet before it officially releases. You know, because games are never leaked digitally.

So what is the point of purchasing Metal Gear Solid V as a physical release for PC? Would it not be better to purchase your copy through and download it a midnight?

These are all better choices in our opinion, since we’re now left with no option for a proper physical bar buying a console version of the game for PS4 or Xbox One.

If you bought Metal Gear Solid V for PC, get ready to download a 28GB file. But this doesn’t change the fact that Konami still have pulled a wrong move here.

They’ve been doing a lot of that lately.
