Namco Bandai Games has announced that Splatterhouse has gone gold for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Inspired by the original 1988 arcade hit, Splatterhouse combines visceral, adrenaline-fueled and blood-soaked combat with survival-horror elements in an over-the-top gore-fest. If that description seems superfluous, perhaps a look at MyGaming’s Splatterhouse image gallery will change your mind.
Still not convinced? Here’s a video:
Splatterhouse follows college student Rick Taylor as he embarks on a mission to rescue his girlfriend, Jennifer, who has disappeared after entering a mysterious, run-down mansion inhabited by the elusive scientist, Dr. West.
Confronted by horrific, otherworldly abominations under Dr. West’s control, Rick turns to a mystical sentient mask that promises to give him the power to reunite him with his beloved Jennifer. Fraught with desperation, Rick dons the “Mayan Terror Mask” and is transformed into a raging juggernaut, unleashing unadulterated violence and destruction upon anything that stands in his way.
Splatterhouse gives players countless ways to decimate enemies with extreme gore, including Necrotic energy powered attacks, the all powerful Berserker Mode, an arsenal of classic Splatterhouse weapons, and gruesome Splatter Kills which enable gamers to rip, impale, and smash opponents into bloody pulpy masses.
The game also boasts a licensed soundtrack featuring many top names in heavy metal, the original Splatterhouse trilogy as unlockable content and Survival Arenas.
Splatterhouse will be available on 26 November 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
