It may still be a work in progress, says the Steam Community update, but there are a number of sorely needed fixes for Fallout 4, so we appreciate Bethesda’s haste in releasing the game’s first update.
Unfortunately, the list of fixes is a little dainty – we can assure you that there are a lot more things that need fixing than this Beta Update 1.2.33 would suggest. But it’s a start.
Fixes
- General memory and stability improvements
- Fixed issue where equipped weapons become locked after completing Reunions
- Fixed issue with When Freedom Calls where the quest would not complete
- During Confidence Man, fixed issue where player’s health would continuously regenerate
- Fixed crash related to jumping into water and reloading saved games
- Fixed issue where Launcher would not save God Rays Quality setting properly
One positive point worth noting in this update is ability to remap Numpad keys to item favourites. And it’s a welcome improvement given how many favourites we have and having to navigate our Pip-Boy to use items breaks the pace of combat.
New Features
- Number pad keys can now be used for remapping
- Remapping Activate now works on Quick Container
Just keep in mind that this is a beta update, so we’d advise you listen to the Community update by backing up saved games.
The instructions to install the update are these:
- Log into Steam
- Right Click on Fallout 4 in your Library
- Select Settings
- Select Betas
- A drop down menu will appear. Select Beta Update
- Select OK.
- Wait a few minutes and Fallout 4 should update.
- When done, Fallout 4 should appear as Fallout 4 [beta] in your Library
Expect the retail release of the update as well as updates for both console versions to follow shortly.
