Windows 10 enters 2016 with more than 200 million installations

From good ol’ Windows 95 running on the New Nintendo 3DS to the most advanced OS from Microsoft yet, Windows 10, running on well… everything. Like it or not, Windows 10 is everywhere – it’s a real Genisys event.

If ever there was an omnipresent, Orwellian-like synthetic entity to usurp humanity, it’s Windows 10. Don’t believe us? Just look at the numbers.

According to statistics garnered by WinBeta, Windows 10 has been installed on more than 200 million devices, having just reached 110 million in October.

That’s more than 90 million devices in around three months and 200 million in less than half a year – believe us now?

Microsoft is aiming for one billion devices in three years, which is quite the goal, but they’re well on their way there.

And with the sheer number of Windows 10 devices predicted to sell this year, as well as DirectX 12-powered games set to release in earnest, we wouldn’t be all that surprised if Microsoft changed Windows 10’s name to SHODAN or Skynet.
