A fairly common strategy for publishers and their marketing teams, when pushing a new game, is to host a competition of some sort. The goal isn’t to sell games directly, but to have you notice their game and its “brand” – to have it stand out.
As an example, Just Cause 3 gave you the opportunity to win your very own island. If that doesn’t stand out, nothing will. For Far Cry Primal, Ubisoft has similar plans. That’s because you can win the opportunity to sleep in a cave and defecate in the woods!
Okay, so it’s not quite as astonishing as winning your very own personalised island, but the opportunity to be eaten by a wolf while relieving yourself on some moss certainly screams “look at me!”
Welcome to cavebnb:
Make no mistake, there are going to be a lot of entrants, a heck of a lot. Consider the prevalence of survival shows or the growth of the ‘back to nature’ culture, and you know it to be true.
I’d much rather spend my day foraging for food at my local farmers market and spend the night playing Dota 2 in my man cave, but that’s just me.
It’s unlikely that anyone living in South Africa will be eligible for entrance into this competition, but we thought it interesting enough to mention.
In case Far Cry Primal isn’t your cup of tea
Of course The Division is the best experience on PC
There’s an unofficial Unreal Engine 4 remake of Metal Gear Solid; watch Konami pull the plug
