The DayZ team over at Bohemia Interactive have released a video, demonstrating the latest Direct 11 renderer for DayZ Standalone, via the Enfusion engine.
The goal of the new renderer is improved performance, less bugs and, ultimately, better visuals.
In spite of the marked improvements made by the DirectX 11 renderer, the video’s narrator asks that “we all keep our expectations tempered. This is, after all, a work in progress software in development.”
We agree, we’re absolutely keeping our expectations tempered, but not because it’s an early implementation of this new Enfusion engine.
Our expectations were tempered by the absurdly slow progress, empty promises and Dean Hall’s (its development lead) abandonment of the game altogether.
Not only will the game cost nearly twice the price it was initially supposed to sell for, but they’ve reiterated on their roadmap multiple times over, overhauled some facet of the game’s engine on a number of occasions and, quite frankly, we don’t expect this engine will reach maturity before they implement something else.
We understand that when the game was sold, we were all warned that it was an early alpha, but it’s been nearly three years now and the game still barely works.
Is anyone surprised comments for this video have been disabled?
