Obsidian reveals new fantasy RPG: Tyranny

Obsidian and Paradox announced a new fantasy role-playing game for PC at the Game Developers Conference on 15 March 2016.

Paradox also announced that its space-themed grand strategy game, Stellaris will release on 9 May 2016.

Obsidian’s new game is titled Tyranny, and the screenshots resemble the studio’s previous RPG title, Pillars of Eternity – which raised almost $4 million during it’s Kickstarter campaign.

Tyranny is set in a fantasy world where evil reigns supreme and the typical role-playing concept of saving the world is forgotten. The player will assume the role of an evil champion in service to a malignant, powerful being named Kyros.

The game is similar in style and setting to Pillars of Eternity, which also featured an isometric perspective and hand-drawn art style along with a story line which focussed on the different facets of morality.

Tyranny looks to be another homage to the classic role-playing game, inspired by titles such as Baldur’s Gate, Arcanum, Planescape: Torment and Fallout.

Tyranny is set to be released this year and you can learn more about the game by visiting the official website.
