Maybe I’m just weird, but although I’m female, I almost always play male characters in games if I’m given the choice. On the other hand, I’ve always been under the impression that most guys will play female characters under similar circumstances.
Bioware’s pushed out some player stats for Mass Effect 2, and it turns out I’m totally wrong about that. According to their findings, 82% of players choose a male Shepard character. He does have a nice bum, though.
Also – and this is somewhat surprising to me – the Soldier class is apparently “far and away” the most popular of the six available, coming in at a 65% preference. Do you people not know about the Infiltrator or what?
Other stats include (SPOILERS):
• 83% of players created their own face for Shepard
• Garrus was among the most popular squad member selected for missions
• 10% of players never let Grunt out of his tank
• Only 50% of players have fully upgraded the Normandy by the end game
• 14% of squad members die in the end-game on average
• 36% of players sided with Cerberus in the end-game
