Sony has stated that it may be bringing PlayStation VR to PC, according to SegmentNext.

Sony has been investigating the possibility of making the PlayStation VR compatible with a PC, which according to the report is made possible by the similar internal parts of the PS4 and a PC.

The only difficulty would be accounting for the unique hardware PlayStation VR features, such as the processing unit attached to the headset. The virtual reality device functions similarly to the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

The availability of PlayStation VR for PC would create a new level of competition for the Rift and Vive, as the PlayStation VR is the cheapest of the three devices by a wide margin.

However, the specifications of the PC-exclusive devices are still superior to their PlayStation counterpart.

The PlayStation VR headset will release in October 2016.
