Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XV will release on 30 September 2016. The release date was confirmed at the Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV event held in Los Angeles on 30 March.
The event showcased various new trailers and gameplay of the upcoming title, along with the release of a free Final Fantasy anime series named Brotherhood.
Final Fantasy XV was re-introduced to the gaming world at E3 2013 after undergoing changes since its original inception in 2006.
The game was not originally envisioned as a core element of the Final Fantasy series, and was originally called Final Fantasy Versus XIII. However, after continued development it was decided that the game would release as a core title in the series.
The Brotherhood anime series follows the story of Noctis before the events of the game, and will be available to watch via YouTube.
Final Fantasy XV is officially being released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, although there have been multiple references regarding a PC release.
Final Fantasy XV is available for pre-order now.
