Where to buy cheap PC gaming hardware in South Africa

Platform pre-order and purchase price comparison

Being a PC gamer in South Africa can be tough on your wallet to say the least, with modern gaming hardware costing significantly more than international retail prices.

We have compared a number of products across different online storefronts in order to find the best prices for gaming hardware in South Africa.

We only included stores that stocked the latest gaming hardware (i.e. the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070), as newer hardware generally offers a better price-to-performance ratio and is set to prove popular among average consumers.

We selected products that are widely stocked among the included stores, although accounting for every store was impossible in some cases (Evetech only stocks MSI GeForce GTX 1070 cards while Rebeltech does not stock any).

The retailers included in this comparison are Rebeltech, Wootware, Loot, Evetech, and Raru.

We compared the following gaming-related products across all stores:

  • MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X
  • Intel Core i7-6700K CPU
  • MSI Z170A Gaming M7 Motherboard
  • SteelSeries Apex M800 Mechanical Keyboard
  • Samsung 950 Pro NVMe M.2 512GB SSD
  • MSI Radeon R9 380 4GB
  • Corsair CX 500 Power Supply

Several websites such as Takealot and WebAntics were not included due to their lack of newer hardware stock.

The table below reflects the price of common gaming hardware at different online retailers.

Corsair CX 500 R749 R1,077 R1,118 R1,067 R1,158

Evetech offers the lowest pricing on three products, with Rebeltech and Loot also offering the cheapest deals on two products.

The pricing across all retailers seems relatively consistent, with the exception of Evetech’s low SteelSeries Apex M800 price and Rebeltech’s absence of an MSI GeForce GTX 1070.

The above prices provide an overall idea of pricing difference, although it is recommended that you consult specific pricing data when purchasing your gaming hardware.
